NUMBERS
The story of migration is as old as humanity. People who are forced to leave their homes due to wars, conflicts, and poverty in pursuit of a better life, often end up as mere statistics, lost in the pages of history.
Illustrator and animation artist Deniz Türker was born in 1995, in Istanbul's Beykoz district. After completing her primary and high school there, she went to Ankara for university. She graduated from Gazi University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema in 2017.
Türker worked as a video editor, and also made drawings for various children’s books. By combining these two fields she turned to animation. Initially, she created the drawings and animations for the documentary “Genocide is Its Name” directed by Tülay Gökçimen.
She spent a year creating her first professional work in the animation field, "Numbers". The film received various awards at festivals and continues to do so.
She continues her work in the field of animation with the goal of ensuring that every person in the world receives their fundamental rights and freedoms.
